DECLARATION OF ELECTION CAMPAIGN PERIODS FOR VILLAGE HEAD ELECTIONS IN THE WESTERN AREA RURAL DISTRICT
In accordance with section 148, subsection (1) of the Public Elections Act 2012, the National Electoral Commission (NEC) hereby declares the period Tuesday 18th June to Thursday 27th June 2013 as Campaign period for candidates contesting the Village Head elections in the Western Area Rural District.
Candidates, agents and supporters are reminded about their obligations to abide by the Code on Election Campaign Ethics, as provided for in Section 155 subsection (1) of the Public Elections Act 2012 and the Code of Conduct for Political Parties published by the Political Parties Registration Commission (PPRC), to both of which they have subscribed.
The Commission wishes to entreat all contestants, supporters and the general public to be law abiding, and ensure that campaigns are free of violence and disruptions, as peaceful campaigns are a necessary condition for transparent and credible elections as well as the sustainability of our hard won peace.
