The Voter Education and Training Officer (VETO) is assigned to the designated Electoral District to implement Training and Voter Education programmes of the department. He/she functionally reports to two Directors: Director of Training and Procedures and Director of Electoral Education and administratively to the District Electoral Manager.

DUTIES

    1. Implement effective training and electoral education programmes at district level;
    2. Collaborate with civil society groups and other key stakeholders on electoral training and electoral education programmes;
    3. Facilitate the training of ad hoc stafffor electoral activities using prescribed guidelines;
    4. Facilitate training and electoral education seminars, briefings or workshops held in the designated district;
    5. Collaborate with district radio stations for regular radio discussion programmes, interviews and discussions
    6. Monitor the airing of jingles and other electoral educations materials assigned to their districts
    7. Prepare, in collaboration with the District Electoral Manager and ADEM of the district, work plans and budget estimates for all training and electoral education programmes;
    8. Assist in designing voter education materials;
    9. Prepare and inform district staffmembers and other key stakeholders about training and electoral education schemes;
    10. Maintain training and electoral education records and effective filing system in the district; 
    11. Other official duties as assigned by the District Electoral Manager

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in various
  • Certificate from INEACE (Institute of Electoral Administration and Civic Education) would be an added advantage

Skills and Experience

  • Ability to perform under pressure, handle heavy workloads; and meet stringent reporting deadlines
  • Knowledgeable in geographical situate ofthe country
  • Fluency in at least one local dialect with the exception ofKrio is an added
  • Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills,
  • Organization and communication skills
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize and work well under
  • Willingness to work as a team and support colleagues in a professional and courteous manner

MESSAGE TO VOTERS

  1. It is your civic right and responsibility to register and vote in elections.
  2. Come out and register from 3rd September to 4th October 2022 to enable you to vote in the June 24, 2023 Presidential, Parliamentary and Local council elections.
  3. If you don’t register now, you cannot vote.
  4. Disability is not inability; all persons with disabilities are encouraged to come out and register in order to vote in the 2023 elections.
  5. Bring your proof of identity when you come to register.
  6. One Sierra Leone, One Registration, One Identity Card.
  7. Women  are encouraged to come out in numbers to register
  8. Women are also encouraged to contest/vote in the 2023 elections.
  9. Voter registration is from 3rd September to 4th October 2022.
  10. If you will be 18 years or older on the eve of 24th June 2023, come out and register.
  11. Go to the nearest registration centre within your Ward and register between the period 3rd September to 4th October
  12. Registration Centres become Polling Centres on Election Day, so register at a centre in a Ward where you are ordinarily resident.
  13. All Registration Centres will open 7:00a.m to 5 p.m. Monday to Sunday/every day
  14. Make sure you collect your registration receipts after you register.
  15. Sierra Leone has a new registration system now; everybody must register again in 2022.
